Kathmandu
– Nagarkot - Pokhara
A
seven-day itinerary combining an insight into Nepalese culture
as it exists in Kathmandu valley, then visiting beautiful
valley of Pokhara with tranquil lakes and majestic mountain
peaks.
In
the Kathmandu valley you visit the three ancient sister cities
of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur and study their unique royal
courtyards and temples, a legacy left over from centuries of
intermingling of various ethnic groups. You also visit
Buddhist stupa of Swayambhunath perched on a hillock west of
Kathmandu. Over winding roads, you visit the tiny settlement
of Nagarkot, 32 km east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2,099m.
Then driving along the scenic mountainous highway, you visit
the Pokhara valley, which is the second most popular tourist
destination. Forming the backdrop are the spectacular
Annapurnas massif and the magnificent fish-tailed
Machhapuchhre dominating the scenery. Adding to Pokhara’s
enchantments are the three serene lakes of Phewa, Begnas and
Rupa, the World Peace stupa atop a hill, the deep Seti gorge,
the Green canyon and Devin’s fall. Pokhara has always
fascinated tourists as a launch-pad for many a trek to the
central and western Himalaya and as a destination to enjoy a
relaxing holiday with incomparable mountain views.
