week-long trek in the Annapurna foothills to the top of Poon

Moderate trekking from an altitude of 900m to a maximum
3,000m, this trek offers spectacular mountain scenery,
charming settlements of Gurungs and their slate-roofed houses,
incredible rhododendron forests ablaze with ivory, rose,
apricot and crimson bouquets and deep sub-tropical valleys all
set below the Annapurna and Dhualagiri range. The sunrise over
Machhapuchhre or Fishtail (6,993m) from Poonhill is simply
breath taking as the sun changes its color from pink to gold
to silver – a rewarding experience. |
